Alanis on Art Gives Hope: A Decade Of Music Portraits

  
Andrew MacNaughtan isn't just one of Canada's best-known music photographers, he's also a social activist. He's combining those passions by launching a fundraising exhibition called Art Gives Hope: A Decade Of Music Portraits.

More than 60 images of Canadian music superstars will be on display at The Monte Clarke Gallery in Toronto's Distillery District from March 10-14. The Tragically Hip, Sum 41, Alanis Morissette, Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan are among the artists who autographed their portraits for the event.

MacNaughtan will also be launching an online auction from March 7-17 that will give music fans all over the world a chance to bid on exclusive autographed prints. MacNaughtan expects to raise more than $100,000 for African families living with HIV and AIDS via World Vision Canada.

Inspired by last year's Canada For Asia benefit, which raised more than $4 million for victims of the south Asian tsunami, MacNaughtan visited Uganda with World Vision Canada. The poverty and squalor he witnessed compelled him to do whatever he could to help, which inspired Art Gives Hope.
